Ordinary people, making an extraordinary difference
Every day our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers go to work to provide children who have been the victims of abuse and neglect with a powerful voice.
In 2010 alone, 150 CASA volunteers helped 550 children work towards finding a permanent home. Here are some examples of the impact these volunteers can have in the lives of the children they advocate for:
Laura, a beautiful 3 month old, was placed in foster care after it became clear that her mentally ill mother was incapable of caring for her, and she was in danger of losing all contact with the grandparents who loved her. Learn more >>
Sam's mom was a single mother and very low functioning. She could not keep up with her inquisitive and impulsive toddler, and was unable to distinguish between what was safe and what was dangerous for him, but she loved Sam very much. Learn more >>
Rebecca and Jonathan were living in a foster home two hours away from their mother. Their whole family needed help in order to heal. Learn more >>
These children's mother couldn't shake her addictions and be there for her children, and the system didn't recognize an alternative. Fortunately, their CASA volunter stepped in. Learn more >>
