Adoption

All children deserve the opportunity to grow up in a family.

Children who are abused or neglected by their parents or caregivers often end up living in foster homes and group homes. While these living arrangements may be safe, they are temporary, and not 'forever families'. Even if it's a healthy and loving place, children need to have at least one adult who they can count on to be there for them always. We believe children deserve unconditional parental love and that it's out there for every child. As a community, we simply need to find it for them. That's part of what CASA volunteers do.

Advocates for Children's mission is to help children move to safe, permanent, and loving homes, either with their parents, a family member, or an adoptive parent. This kind of home is what every child needs and deserves, and they have a right to it in a time frame that is meaningful to them. Six months in foster care for an infant is a lifetime. The clock is ticking, and the longer children wait in foster care, the harder the adjustment is to a forever home.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting a child, please contact the Indiana Foster Care and Adoption Association (http://www.ifcaa.org) for more information. Also, please visit http://www.in.gov/dcs/adoption for more information about specific children in need of an adoptive home.
